Posture

A lot of our clients ask about their posture and how it relates to their health. Oftentimes, they are confused by the constant advice of others advising them how to stand and how to walk (chin up, shoulders back, don’t slouch, etc…). The problem is, that a lot of times these well-intended puns are incorrect.

So, what is the proper posture? First off, we can safely say that almost noone has perfect posture (if it even exists). That should help alleviate the minds of everyone who worries about such things too much. The ideal posture is for the ear to line up with the shoulder, with the hip, with the ankles. This is the correct natural alignment. Due to stress, life, work, family, etc, we start to deviate from this posture or we may have alignment or curved spine issues. How do you correct or help this? Stretching, postural awareness, chiropractic treatment, and massage can all help to lead to better postures, and thus helping your stress and tightness, etc.
