Shiatsu is a Japanese word that means ‘finger pressure’. A regular Shiatsu treatment can incorporate finger pressure, thumbs, palms, knees, forearms, elbows and feet. Pressure is applied to meridians (energetic channels of the body) to promote good health by stimulating the body’s Ki’ (energy flow).
This ancient practice was developed in Japan and combines intuitive skills as well as a good understanding of the body/mind in order to offer a holistic treatment. Stimulation of pressure points together with other techniques help to release physical and energetic blockages. Shiatsu tonifies and corrects the flow of energy, thereby helping to restore vitality and prevent disease.
