Absolutely not! Muscle is a tissue; and there are often several layers of muscle in the body. Deep tissue simply means that the focus of the massage is the deeper muscle in the body. A therapist doesn’t necessarily need a lot of pressure to target this deeper layer of muscle. Good technique can oftentimes be more beneficial than heavy pressure. With this in mind, your massage is all about you, so if you want more or less pressure in an area please inform your therapist.
